A Fabulous Trip to Stonington and Mystic Connecticut!

If you’re looking for a fantastic New England getaway, I recommend The Inn At Stonington in Stonington, Connecticut. The inn faces the village on one side and the water on the other. There are 18 rooms, and you can walk to shops and restaurants.

This is a place where you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. You can shop for antiques, visit art galleries, retail shops and more. It’s inspiring to walk around the village and see the gorgeous, historic homes. Many of them date back to the 1700s!

Our room had a comfortable bed, a gas fireplace and a large soaking tub with the Breakwater Restaurant behind us. I loved their fish tacos so much that we went several times!

We also spent alot of time in nearby Mystic. It’s confusing, but this village is actually part of Groton on one side and part of Stonington on the other. Make sure to go to the Mystic Seaport Museum and Seaport Village featuring businesses from the 1800s. It’s a must see.

After leaving The Inn at Stonington, we stayed at an air B&B in Groton within walking distance to the downtown Mystic area. Long ago, Groton was named by my 1st cousin 12x removed, Gov. John Winthrop Jr. after the family home in England called Groton Manor.

In Mystic, there are so many restaurants to choose from including Red 36, S&P Oyster restaurant and Bar, Mystic Pizza, Nana’s Mystic, The Shipwright’s Daughter, Sift Bakery and many more. I like to keep up to date on Tripadvisor to see the latest reviews and new restaurants.

The next time we go to Mystic, we’d like to stay at The Whaler’s Inn right in the middle of everything. For healthy cold pressed juices and smoothies as well as light, healthy breakfast and light lunch options, check out Karma Kitchen Mystic. It’s right in the downtown area. we got a green juice there every day.

It’s a wonderful place in any season, steeped in history. I can’t wait to return!
